Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the January 6 Selection Committee’s findings were “something the public needs to know” in an interview.
McConnell’s comment, coming from a interview with Spectrum News airing on Thursdays, months after he and the Republicans in the Senate kill a bipartisan committee in May that should have investigated the riot.
“We’re following the investigation going on in the House, reading about it like everyone else, and it’ll be interesting to see what truth they find,” McConnell said.
“I think the fact-finding is very interesting. We will all watch it. It’s been a terrible event, and I think what they’re looking for is what the public needs to know,” he said.
The nine-member committee consists of two Republican, Representative Liz Cheney by Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois. Both Cheney and Kinzinger have be censured former President Donald Trump and his repeated claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
McConnell’s Spectrum interview isn’t the first time he’s expressed interest in the committee’s findings. In me weekly propeller On Tuesday, he told reporters that “it would be interesting to reveal all the involved participants.”
The committee revealed that many Fox News hosts urged Trump during the riot, to no avail, to ask the rioters to go home.
It also showed a message from a Republican congressman, later revealed to be Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio, to Mark Meadows, expressed disappointment that President Joe Biden’s victory could not be overturned.
