Wednesday night, Chicago Bulls played against the Atlanta Hawks for the second straight game, only this time at home. Luckily for Bulls fans, this team played their best game of the year.
The Bulls opened fire in the first quarter, scoring a season-high 38 in the first 12 minutes. However, the Hawks felt it too, as the first quarter ended 38-34.
However, the second quarter is where things change. During the first half of this quarter, Atlanta consistently kept a significant distance. In the weak minutes before the break, the Bulls continued to run 23-3 and took the lead 74-53.
The mid-half numbers are truly amazing. Chicago may not see another half like this all season, as they have shot 69.8% from the field. Four identical bulls. Although Nikola Vucevic was not one of them, he played a superb first half with 8 points, 12 goals and two steals.
These Chicago Bulls teams played with lights on from start to finish, with everyone involved.
When the second half began, the Bulls continued to maintain the momentum of the attack. Chicago finished the game with more than 61% and finished the season with 38 assists on 52 goals – a staggering number. They also have seven players in the doubles, as they beat Atlanta 131-117.
The Hawks played extremely forehand, if we’re fair. They entered the night with only four players on the roster. The rest are recent additions, making this the toughest game the Hawks have played all season.
The Bulls still compete without Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, but two others stepped up and played their best game of the year: Coby White and Javonte Green.
White finished with 17 points, 12 assists and three goals, filling in a unique way for Ball. After the game, White told reporters he knew exactly what his abilities were, hinting that no one should be surprised with the kind of outpouring from him.
Green, meanwhile, is all over the court. On both ends, he is a threat. He did a bit of everything, scoring 14 points, three assists, two steals, two own own goals and one tackle. Green actually ended up with the best plus/minus of the night for the Bulls of +24.
Vucevic finished with the highest 20 rebounds of the season, along with 16 points and three steals. The big man played best ball of the season lately, making the Bulls look really unstoppable if their big three are on the right track.
The Bulls are still sitting comfortably in second in the East at 22-10 now, after winning four in a row. For those who started their weekend early and enjoyed another break, the Bulls take on the Indiana Pacers on New Year’s Eve – at 2pm tomorrow – for a fifth straight win.
