The Chicago Bears really should try for this coaching legend

The search for the head coach continues for Chicago Bears. Hiring a head coach in front of a general manager isn’t exactly smart but can make some exceptions. One of the best coaches in the NFL may be more available than some think.

Sean Payton has been one of the NFL’s best head coaches for a long time. Some might think that Drew Brees is the main reason the New Orleans Saints have been so successful over the years, and that’s probably true. Good quarterback runs the NFL.

However, a good head coach is also needed, as we have seen for a long time in the sport. Payton will one day be in the Hall of Fame thanks to his massive workload. He still hasn’t ruled out a move from New Orleans before the 2022 season starts.

The Chicago Bears should get through all of that. He’s the type of head coach you hire before the GM and ask him to help you make that hire. He has been very successful in this position and can bring a lot to the Bears.

The Chicago Bears could really use someone like Sean Payton to run the team.

He’s also been around great players for so long and knows how to coach them. The most important thing for Chicago right now is the development of Justin Fields. Based on his experience with Brees, Payton could be a great help in that quest. If he’s really present, the Bears should do whatever it takes to get him in.

If Sean Payton comes to Chicago and succeeds, he’ll become one of the most beloved figures in the city’s history. It might make a little more sense for him to do it here than anywhere else, which is reason to believe it’s possible.

Payton was born in California but he grew up in Illinois. He went to Naperville Central and played quarterback there. He then went to Eastern Illinois for college and even had time playing for the Chicago Bears as a player. He also served as a quarterback coach at Illinois in the ’90s.

The local ties are definitely there. With that in mind, he could tell how lousy the Bears were in terms of how they ran. If he comes, it will most likely come at a cost.

He wants a lot of money and he certainly wants George McCaskey/Ted Phillips to leave him alone. This is obviously a pipe dream but it’s something to think about as the season goes on.

Every day that goes by without a new coach being hired is another day that we can trust they’re going to mess this up. Landing a legend like Payton will start to make people change the way they see the future, so it has to be considered. The Chicago Bears really should try for this coaching legend
