The Blackhawks couldn’t even score Marc-Andre Fleury a goal

The Chicago Blackhawks played a very tough game against the Dallas Stars on Friday. It’s the second round head-to-head that always makes it harder to win. Marc-Andre Fleury played brilliantly and the team still lost.

You could argue that Fleury’s 29 saves on 29 shots is his best all season. Some of the saves he has made have been absolutely astounding, including a candidate save of the year. Unfortunately, despite suffering 0 goals, the Hawks lost.

Fleury allows two goals in the penalty shootout (one of the extra time) and Alex DeBrincat were the only shooters to score for Chicago so they were unable to win despite Fleury’s disqualification. They couldn’t even score their elite keeper a goal in a game where he was so brilliant and it was a pity to watch.

Of course, it was written on the wall that Fleury wouldn’t end the season with Chicago. He’s one of the NHL’s all-time great goalkeepers and has never missed a playoff in any year with the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Vegas Golden Knights. This won’t be the year he breaks that record.

Marc-Andre Fleury shocked the Chicago Blackhawks this year.

It would be really cool to see Fleury move to another team that has a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Teams like the Colorado Avalance, Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings are all in the mix and could use an upgrade in scorers like Fleury.

He is the story from this game. Last night they conceded seven goals without him in the net and then he came the next day and didn’t give up a single goal. He has proven that he is still capable of being an outstanding goalkeeper in the league.

His years may be a number but he should continue to be very good for as long as he wants. It was nice to see him achieve success in Chicago but that was not the case. Still, it’s great to have a legend like that in town for such a short time.

The Blackhawks will have another chance to score some goals for Fleury on Sunday when they play Sunday afternoon’s game against the Florida Panthers. They are the strongest team in the NHL so it will be interesting to see if they can play well against them at home. Fleury will need such a good comeback to stand a chance.
