BOSTON (CBS) – The Archdiocese of Boston on Thursday announced a new masking mandate for the holiday season.
Cardinal Sean O’Malley asked everyone to wear a face covering if they are attending Archdiocese Masses, as well as weddings and funerals. The new rules start December 18 and run through January 17.

“Mass celebrations, deacons, readers, servers, choir members and musicians should all wear masks unless they are speaking,” the archdiocese said in a statement. dad.

The rules do not apply to children under the age of 5.

The Archdiocese said the task is being carried out “in light of the sudden spike in the number of new COVID cases and these numbers are likely to increase during the upcoming holiday season.”
