Game of Thrones actor Darren Kent, who died at the age of 39, suffered from multiple illnesses, including a rare skin condition, which nonetheless inspired him to take on a heartbreaking but inspiring role on a television show.
Fans are mourning the death of British actor Darren Kent, who played the famous role of Slavers Bay the goatherd in Game of Thrones. Fans may recall Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys conquering Slavery’s Bay in Essos and freeing the slaves from their master’s control. The London-based actor with a distinctive Cockney accent passed away on Friday 11 August. Additionally, news of Darren’s death surfaced after his agency posted it on social media. “It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and customer Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday,” the statement said.
Darren Kent suffered from several illnesses
Although the cause of Darren Kent’s death was not immediately disclosed, multiple outlets reported that the British actor was suffering from multiple illnesses.
According to multiple reports, the actor suffered from chronic health issues like arthritis and osteoporosis. He even had a rare skin condition. Darren led an extremely low-key life away from the media limelight.
However, his role in Game of Thrones made him a recognizable figure in pop culture. Darren played a resident of Slaver’s Bay whose young daughter is killed by one of Daenerys’ dragons. In the heartbreaking court scene, he appears before the dragon queen, bringing his little girl’s skeletal remains.

Darren portrayed a boy with a rare skin condition in the short film Sunny Boy
The 2014 British short film Sunny Boy stars Darren as Danny Leon. Danny is a boy with a rare skin condition that prevents him from going out in the sun. The show’s all-star cast includes Lewis Nicolas, Tara Hodge, Vanessa Goodliffe, Anton Stevenson and more.
The short film is only 12 minutes long but manages to leave an impression on the audience. Darren won the Best Actor trophy at the 2012 Van d’Or Independent Film Awards for Sunny Boy. Darren drew inspiration from his personal experiences to portray Danny’s heartbreaking character.
