The 10 Most Dangerous Cities in America Revealed

A new study has revealed the most dangerous cities in America – and no, New York isn’t one of them.

While it’s no secret that crime in the Big Apple has increased dramatically in recent years, our humble hometown has thankfully been left off that infamous list.

Security Gauge, a crime risk assessment platform, collected violent crime data (homicide, rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault) from 18,000 law enforcement agencies in U.S. cities with populations of at least 25,000.

And according to the statistics, Bessemer, Alabama is currently the most dangerous place in the country.

Accordingly, the region reports a whopping 33.18 violent crimes per 1,000 residents Daily Mail, who received the study.

Bessemer has recently experienced a rise in physical violence, property crimes and motor vehicle thefts, accounting for its rise to the top.

The Alabama area replaced Monroe, Louisiana, previously named the most dangerous place in America by Security Gauge.

The southern city took second place in the new listing. It has one of the highest murder rates in the United States, according to an analysis of reports to the FBI.

Meanwhile, Memphis, Tennessee, and Saginaw, Michigan, are the third most dangerous cities in the country. Both reported a violent crime rate of 25.1 per 1,000 residents.

Detroit, Michigan, wasn’t far behind, with a violent crime rate of 23 per 1,000 residents.

Birmingham, Alabama, was listed as the sixth-highest crime rate in America, followed by two cities in Arkansas.

Pine Bluff has a violent crime rate of 20.5 per 1,000 residents, with the city reporting 50 more crimes per square mile than the national average.

Little Rock now has 20.2 reported violent crimes per 1,000 residents.

Alexandria, Louisiana and Cleveland, Ohio rounded out the top 10.

Although these cities may be the worst to experience by Security Gauge’s standards, areas across the country are experiencing rising crime.

A report found that violent crime across the U.S. skyrocketed last year compared to 2021.

Astonishingly, one in 179 Americans will be murdered at some point if the country’s murder rate remains the same as it was in 2021.

And even though New York City dropped out of the top 10 list, things still aren’t looking good for the rotting Big Apple.

The city recorded a record number of crimes last year – the highest in over 15 years.
