Citing procedural flaws, the Texas Amnesty and Amnesty Commission withdrew George Floyd’s Clemency recommendation, according to a news release from Governor Greg Abbott’s Office.

Governor Renae Eze’s press secretary said: “The Amnesty and Amnesty Board withdrew 25 clemency recommendations that contained procedural flaws and a lack of compliance with the Board’s rules.

“Among the recommendations to be withdrawn was one related to George Floyd. The Board will review and resolve procedural errors and issues related to any pending applications in accordance with their regulations. Due to the Board’s withdrawal of the recommendation regarding George Floyd, Governor Abbott did not have the opportunity to consider it. Governor Abbott will consider all recommendations submitted by the Board for consideration.”

CNN previously reported that the Texas Parole and Parole Board voted unanimously to recommend a full pardon for George Floyd for drug offenses in 2004, according to a hearing transcript provided to CNN by the board.

Application for pardon was filed in April on behalf of Floyd and his surviving family.
