That FlexiSpot The Comhar EW8M standing desk is packed with the latest technology but still manages to appear slim and fit into extremely small spaces. After reviewing a number of standing desks over the years, I turned to FlexiSpot to find a smaller desk that would fit into a tiny alcove in my bedroom. The EW8M was brought to my attention and I am happy to say that it has fulfilled its role perfectly.

For large and small rooms

Setting up the EW8M is a breeze as there are only three steps. First, the table top and table frame must be attached. Then the table feet are screwed on. Finally, the power cords are connected and the desk is turned over. This process takes about 10 minutes if careful, although an experienced desk builder could do it in five. As simple as that.

The highlight of the EW8M for me is the small footprint. With a width of 120 cm, it fits exactly where our old wardrobe used to be. This has turned previously unused space into a lovely little bedroom office for my partner.

Packed with features

The main attraction of a standing desk is of course the sit-stand function. The EW8M does not disappoint with a height adjustment range of between 72-121 cm. At 6’7″, I push standing desks to their limits, which often comes with a wobbly work surface. Thanks to the crossbar used on this desk, wobble is kept to a minimum at maximum height, but much less noticeable when adjusted to my partner’s height of 5ft 10in.

Being able to quickly switch from a seated to a standing position is a huge benefit for those working from home. An alarm can be set to remind users to get back up, making it easy to form good habits. The EW8M also uses FlexiSpot’s anti-collision feature, which means the desk will stop if it detects an object preventing it from moving up or down. As someone who almost crushed their PC case with an older standing desk model, I appreciate this feature immensely.

Even more functions

Another feature worth highlighting is the choice of USB ports for charging, of which there are three. This is ideal for those who want to connect a phone and tablet charger or even power their USB-C supported laptop.

The recessed drawer is also worth mentioning. It’s low enough not to cause legroom issues, but still has room for books, a keyboard, and other office essentials. The drawer tucks away neatly when not in use and blends in well with the white frame.

Four memory settings are available on the EW8M. These each allow a different height adjustment, so that two users can remember a sitting and a standing position. This is extremely convenient as users don’t have to remember the exact height they prefer. You just push a button and the desk adapts quickly.
