Teenager who racially abused Marcus Rashford over missing Euro 2020 penalty jailed

A YOUTH who racially abused Marcus Rashford over his recent Euro 2020 penalty miss has been jailed for six weeks.
Justin Lee Price, 19, sent the England star, 24, the offensive message, which targeted his skin colour.
It read: “YOU F****** STUPID ****** THAT A FREE PEN IS MISSING THIS COULD ACHIEVE MY DEAD NAN.”
Price watched the penalty shoot-out loss to Italy in the bedroom of his childhood home.
He changed his Twitter username to avoid detection after the tweet was reported and initially refused to post the message online when questioned by police.
But the teenager later admitted it to officers during a second interview.

He was sentenced by Kidderminster Magistrates Court yesterday.
Mark Johnson, Chief Attorney for the Crown, said: “Price targeted a footballer because of the color of his skin and his action was clearly racist and a hate crime.”
Douglas Mackay, also of the CPS, added: “The UK Football Police’s mid-season report has shown a significant increase in football-related crime compared to pre-pandemic levels.
“Hate crimes like this have a significant impact on victims.”
Racist trolls targeted Man United forward Rashford as well as his team-mate Jadon Sancho, 22, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, 20, after all missing three penalties for England in the final.


Hundreds of social media accounts were reported, and a string of arrests followed.
Jonathan Best, 52, from Hounslow, west London, was the first to be jailed after live-streaming his racist tirade on Facebook.
