A TEENAGE girl has been stabbed to death just weeks after taking a flight to the UK to be with a boyfriend she met online.
Ashley Wadsworth, 19, of Canada, was found dead at an apartment complex in Chelmsford, Essex at around 4pm on Tuesday after concerned neighbors called police.
It is understood the tragic teenager from the small city of Vernon, Canada has traveled to the UK in recent weeks to visit her boyfriend Jack Sepple, 23.
During her trip, Ashley shared dozens of fun photos on Facebook documenting day trips with Jack to tourist attractions.
In photos shared on January 11, the couple is arm-in-arm near Buckingham Palace and Big Ben in London.
Other images shared by Jack’s mother on January 18 show Ashley traveling with her family to the historic town of Rye in East Sussex.
Detectives are questioning a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
Police confirmed they were not looking for anyone else in connection with Ashley’s death.
Police stormed a property in Chelmsford on Tuesday night after receiving reports of a disturbance in the home.
Paramedics tried to revive Ashley but she sadly passed away at the scene.
On Wednesday, Ashley’s friends posted tributes on Facebook for the boy.
Larissa Kontos, a friend of Ashley’s sister, described the boy as a “beautiful loving soul”.
Larissa wrote on Facebook: “She got a ticket for this Thursday to go home to the people who love her.
“You will never be forgotten my femininity. And I will miss you so much!”
Ashley’s aunt, Rosie Turcotte, wrote on Facebook: “I’m so angry, sad and mad.
“Now I want to say a lot, but I always say if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything.
“Another special Angel passed away too soon.”
DCI Scott Egerton from Essex Police said: “I am aware that incidents like this will shock and appall the community, but our initial inquiries indicate this is an isolated incident and not There is no greater risk to the community.
“At the moment, we are not looking for anyone else.
“We have a dedicated team of officers working around the clock to identify the circumstances in which a woman lost her life.
“The investigation is progressing well, but we will remain at the scene for a few more days while we continue to gather evidence and establish the facts.
“You can see officers in the area doing reassurance patrols and I would encourage anyone with information that could help our investigation to reach out and let them know. what you know.
“They’re there to listen to your concerns.”
