Teen hospitalized at Senator Ted Cruz home after 911 call for ‘self-inflicted cut’

Police and emergency responders rushed to Senator Ted Cruz’s Houston home on Tuesday night after receiving a call from a teenager who had been injured by “self-inflicted” lacerations, according to local reports.
A 14-year-old girl reportedly suffered self-inflicted stab wounds to her arms at the Republican residence in the River Oaks neighborhood, Houston police told ABC13 and KHOU 11.
Officers received the call just before 8 p.m. local time.
The teenager was taken to hospital and is expected to be fine.
Police could not confirm if the girl was a member of Cruz’s family.
The Republican lawmaker has two daughters, ages 14 and 11.
ABC13 reporters spotted police in the front yard of his home on Tuesday night.
A spokesman for Cruz asked for privacy for his daughter when approached by the station for comment.
“This is a family matter and luckily her daughter is doing well,” said the outlet’s representative. “There were no serious injuries.”
