The Truck Carriers Association (TCA) has announced the appointment of Jim Ward as the new chairman of the group. He will succeed John Lyboldt, who will retire on April 1, 2022.
Ward, currently president of TCA, is president and chief executive officer of DM Bowman, Inc. of Williamsport, Maryland, a position from which he will soon retire.
TCA began its search for candidates in August. Several members approached Ward to suggest that he consider applying for the position, and he withdrew from the search committee.
“We conclude that Jim is the most qualified person to lead the TCA in these unique times,” said John Elliott, TCA’s first vice president and search committee chair. “We are excited to bring Jim’s unique skills and deep love for the trucking industry to take TCA to the next level.”
In addition to his two decades at DM Bowman, Ward is also chief executive officer of the transportation division of Willis Towers Watson, providing safety and risk management services to its transportation clients. Prior to joining Willis in 1993, Jim was a CSX engineer and was promoted to Maryland’s chief safety officer.
Elliot said the plans are for Ward to serve his term as TCA president while transitioning and taking on the role of president at the March 2022 TCA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
