Taylor Hawkins’ son Oliver Shane plays drums during the Foo Fighters tributes

For him, papa was not such an ordinary hero.

The son of the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins performed on stage on Saturday night in memory of his father.

16-year-old Oliver Shane Hawkins played drums on “My Hero” at the “Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert”. in London.

Images of the father and son were shown on screens the stadium could see as the song began, revealing the teenager behind the drums.

Musicians from around the world gathered to support Hawkins, with various artists playing songs from Foo Fighters’ extensive catalogue.

Some musicians who joined the tribute included Travis Barker of Blink-182, Rufus Tiger Taylor of The Darkness, Wolfgang Van Halen and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet.

The tribute began with former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher performing his band’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and “Live Forever,” backed by the Foo Fighters with Grohl on drums, Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett on guitar, and Nate Mendel on bass.

Grohl was later seen burst into tears when the singer performed “Times Like These.”

Hawkins died on March 25 at the age of 50 in Bogota, Colombia, of complications from a cardiovascular collapse.

He is survived by his wife Alison Hawkins and three children – Oliver Shane, Annabelle Hawkins, 13, and Everleigh Hawkins, 8.
