‘Take siesta’: Agbonlahor attacks ‘poor’ Manchester United player against Tottenham

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw for the first goal Tottenham Hotspur scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

The former Aston Villa striker has said more talkSPORT (6:39 p.m., August 19, 2023) that Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw should have done better in the first goal scored by Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday night’s Premier League match between the two teams at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham beat United 2-0 at home in the league today.

Pape Matar Sarr scored the first goal for Spurs in the 49th minute.

An own goal by defender Lisandro Martinez in the 83rd minute secured Tottenham the three points.

Criticism of Luke Shaw for Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Agbonlahor was unimpressed by United’s defense when Tottenham opened the scoring.

The talkSPORT pundit noted that Dejan Kulusevski put so much on Shaw’s side leading up to the goal.

The Sweden international forward started on the right flank of an attacking midfield three for Tottenham in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Kulusevski’s cross bounced off Lisandro Martinez and fell to Sarr, who scored from just six yards out.

Ex-Villa striker Agbonlahor remarked that Shaw could have done better, arguing that defending against United was bad for the goal.

The pundit said: ‘Manchester United’s defence… Luke Shaw held a siesta down the left flank as Kuluselvski went through.

“Great goal from Spurs point of view, weak defense from Manchester United.”

Tottenham Hotspur were the better side and Manchester United struggled at the back.

While Shaw could have scored more on Spurs’ first goal and were disappointing overall, there were one or two occasions when the Englishman made fouls and blocks in time and stopped Tottenham from improving the score.
