Police said around 2:25 a.m. the suspect parked the stolen vehicle at a gas station on back road 801 North Loop West (North Interstate Highway 610 West) and went to a nearby restaurant on back road 905 North Loop West.

About 20 minutes later, a 49-year-old woman told officers at a nearby CVS that she was in her vehicle in the drive-thru line when the suspect approached and demanded her money. When she refused, the suspect tried to open her door, but was unsuccessful.

“I heard the car handle as if it tried to open my passenger side door,” said the 49-year-old.

He shot into the vehicle and hit the victim’s finger.

“I was stunned, and a few seconds later he shot through the window,” the victim said.

As she drove to a nearby CVS, the suspect fired multiple shots at her.

The woman said she couldn’t believe it happened to her.

“He reminded me of a friend of my teenage daughter’s,” she said.

“I was at the drive-through buying a Whataburger,” the victim said. “It still feels like the Twilight Zone.”
