Suspended on mass shooting charges in Chicago

A recently paroled felon was accused of shooting dead three people — and then shooting one of her daughters in the head — prompting Chicago’s top cops to ask judges to “throw away the key” and finally get it “from ours.” streets”.
Samuel Parsons-Salas, 32, was caught on camera early Sunday taking a gun from a vehicle in front of Vera’s Lounge – then singled out his victims and shot some at close range, the Chicago Sun-Times said.
The daughter of one of the three people killed was seen running to her fallen father – only for Parsons-Salas to come up to her and shoot her in the head, leaving her in critical condition, the newspaper said.
The violent criminal, who was eventually arrested on Monday after running from SWAT officers, was also charged with kidnapping a woman he allegedly held hostage while fleeing the scene, police said.

The killing spree came less than three months after Parsons-Salas was paroled after a conviction in a 2014 armed home invasion that left two people dead, the Sun-Times said.
“Throw away the key,” Chicago’s top cop, Supt. David Brown, told a news conference. “Get that person off our streets,” he said.
“Do not release him on electronic surveillance because he is a danger not only to this community but to the city of Chicago as a whole.” Throw the book at him,” Brown pleaded with judges in the crime-ridden Democratic city.
Parsons-Salas had attended a party at the Vera Lounge celebrating Maria Vera’s 25th birthday, leaving the woman “fighting for her life” after being shot in the head, Brown said.

He grabbed the gun after being kicked out of the party and repeatedly opened fire once confronted outside.
Vera’s father, 50, Ricky Vera, and Mario Pozuelos, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene. Mercedes Tavares, a 24-year-old mother of three, was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Pozuelos’ family told the local newspaper that they were “at a loss for words”.
“He was taken from us prematurely by a senseless act of gun violence,” the family said. “Our Mario still had his whole life ahead of him.”
Parsons-Salas is charged with triple murder, attempted murder and kidnapping. He was expected in court on Wednesday.
