Suspect Madeleine McCann will be charged with raping Irish tour guide 3 years before toddler Brit disappeared

MADELEINE McCann suspect Christian B will be charged with raping a woman in 2004 in the Algarve.

German officials have announced that the sex offender, 45, will be charged with brutally assaulting Hazel Behan, an Ireland tour agent three years ago before Toddlers in the UK disappear.

Der Spiegel has reported that prosecutors will “conclude” their investigation into the rape early next year.

Miss behan, who was 20 years old at the time of the attack, arrived in June 2020 after reading about his previous convictions.

He is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for raping an American pensioner in 2005.

German prosecutors have yet to reveal what evidence they have implicated him in the case and his lawyer declined to comment.

Christian, a German national, is currently serving a seven-year sentence in Germany for raping a pensioner in 2005, and lived in the Algarve from 1995 to 2007.

He took on odd jobs in the area where Madeleine disappeared, and is known to have stolen hotel rooms and resort apartments.

Officials named him the top suspect in Maddie’s disappearance, but he staunchly denied the claims.

She disappeared from a vacation apartment, at the age of three, in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.

The Portuguese police file on Ms Behan’s case has been suggested by German media to have similarities between her case and the attack on the 72-year-old woman.

Ms Behan described how a man wearing a mask climbed over the balcony into her apartment in the early hours of the morning.

She said a knife was put to her neck before the man bound and gagged her before raping her repeatedly over a period of four or five hours.

The attacker then threatened to kill her before fleeing across the balcony and leaving her bleeding profusely.

Last month, we revealed that Christian B once told a friend that he murdered his ex-girlfriend.

The man, called Aberle, said Christian B, 44 years old, admitted he had “accidentally killed” the woman while he was drunk.

Aberle told the police in 2010 – a time as a prostitute Monika Pawlak, 24 years old, was mutilated and stuffed in two crate bags.

Christian OVER was a suspect in the Hamburg murders but was never charged.
