Jamie Lopez, founder of Babydoll Beauty Couture and star of WE TV reality show Super Sized Salon, has died. she was 37
The plus-size stylist was reportedly hospitalized in Las Vegas and died over the weekend from heart complications, sources told TMZ on Monday.
Her salon’s Instagram account wrote about her death on Monday, writing: “On behalf of the Babydoll family, we ask that you give us time to process this tremendous loss. Further details and modalities will be announced shortly.
“We have suffered an extraordinary loss and appreciate the time and space to mourn in peace. Please keep our babydoll family and team alive in your hearts and prayers,” the announcement continued.
A company representative told TMZ in a statement, “It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the death of Babydoll Beauty Couture’s founder and owner, the legendary Jamie Lopez. On behalf of the Babydoll family, we ask that you give us time to process this tremendous loss.”
Founded in 2017, Lopez’s Las Vegas store claims to be the world’s first plus-size salon.
“People just don’t like fat people, they treat us horribly,” she told Der Spiegel in 2019 of her quest to promote inclusion. “They want to make us feel like we’re not welcome or that we don’t belong here.”
The WE TV show, which premiered in August, chronicled her journey to drafting her while tied to her bed when she weighed 846 pounds before losing 400 pounds.
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” alum Mama June and her two daughters, Pumpkin and Jessica, appeared in Episode 4.
According to TMZ, Lopez was getting ready to start filming Season 2.

In 2019, Lopez — who previously ran a salon in Los Angeles, the Mirror reported — felt compelled to relocate after her excrement business was destroyed. But her determination did not falter.
“This is my dream and I will not give it up. I put my life and everything into it — sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, everything,” she said after moving to an even bigger venue. “Financially it’s a huge investment but right now I feel like it’s going big or going home.
“People need a safe place and I will give them what they need,” added the determined business owner. “Haters are my motivators – so watch out, we’re coming at full throttle.”
