‘Suddenly’: Sky man says ‘no hiding place’ for Tottenham trio after big club call

Darren Bent says there is “no hiding place” for Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski following Harry Kane’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Just days before the start of the 2023 Premier League season, Tottenham sold its record goalscorer to FC Bayern Munich as part of a major deal from the club.
With 30 Premier League goals on the way out the door, Bent believes the “security blanket” has been taken away at Tottenham and that there are players like Son Heung-min, who scored a hat-trick against Burnley last time out, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski needs to step up, as he further told Soccer Saturday Sky Sports (9/9/23 at 2:10 p.m.).
At this point, most of them are achieving that goal and Ange Potecoglou’s side look like a completely different animal in the early stages of the new season.
Since Son is one of the experienced players and is now the club’s captain, he is becoming stronger and taking the pressure of scoring on himself.
But that also applies to someone like James Maddison, who has brought a breath of fresh air to Spurs since his summer transfer from relegated Leicester City.

son, Richarlison and Kulusevski
“There is no hiding place for the other players because Harry Kane would score,” Bent said. “Son was poor last season. Kulusevski needs to score more goals. Richarlison, you’re still waiting for him to get started.
“Suddenly you take away the security blanket. That’s why you see guys like Son and Richarlison.
“Now you’re missing that 30-goal striker and you have to score the goals somewhere else.”

Can Tottenham continue to threaten goals?
That’s the big question because while the offensive side of the game was a joy for fans, the defensive side of the game still needs improvement.
If we actually get to the point where we score for Tottenham then the fans won’t care because compared to previous seasons they will be entertained now.
And if they end up outside Europe again, fans will at least be able to see what Postecoglou is trying to build.
