NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) – A student at Norman Elementary School opened fire near the school playground on Monday, and police are continuing to investigate.

Students opened fire near the Eisenhower Elementary School playground, 1415 Fairlawn Drive, after school on Monday.

Norman Police Department officers were called to the scene. They located both the student and the gun.

Sarah Jensen, Public Information Officer for the Norman Police Department, said: “No one was injured and there is no indication that the discharge of the weapon was intended to harm others. “The investigation found no evidence of any ongoing threats to the safety of students or faculty.”

The Drug Crime Investigation Department is still investigating the case.

“We will continue to work with Norman Public Schools and the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office on the case,” Jensen said.
