Straphanger slashed in Union Square in gruesome scene

Two people were slashed open at the Union Square subway station Tuesday night in the latest chilling subway crime.
The suspect punched a woman in the face and a man in the head multiple times on the L-Bahn platform at the Manhattan subway station around 10:25 p.m., police said.
The attack left a gruesome scene for fellow commuters as bloodstained the platform and upper mezzanine.
Both victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Outside the station, a man with a bandage around his head and a blood-soaked shirt was wheeled into an ambulance.

The suspect fled the train station in an unknown direction. There were no arrests.
The police are investigating what led to the violence. The NYPD couldn’t immediately say if the sting was an accidental, unprovoked attack or if it was caused by an argument.
The slashing, snarling L trains going both ways. Both Brooklyn and Manhattan trains were running late, the MTA tweeted around 11 p.m
