Story Details, Trailers & Platforms

Star Wars Eclipse is an upcoming action-adventure game set in the new High Republic era of a galaxy far, far away. From first parts to story and gameplay to development updates, this is everything we know about the game so far.
Quantic Dream’s upcoming Star Wars title will take players back in time before the prequel trilogy and the clone wars, to a time called The High Republic.
This is something of a golden age for both the Jedi Order and the Republic as a whole, but that doesn’t mean every part of the galaxy is safe. In fact, the parts of the galaxy not under Republic protection are as war-torn as ever.
The French studio is known for creating immersive, narrative-driven games that give players a big say in the outcome of the story. Star Wars Eclipse appears to be a continuation of that ideology, and fans of the brand will be given the opportunity to control the narrative.

Star Wars Eclipse story details
While much of the galaxy is at peace, there are always a few bad actors stirring up the chaos.
Taking place in a section of the galaxy known as the Outer Rim, Eclipse sees players jump between characters in an expansive, multi-perspective story mode where every choice a player makes changes the world around them.
In their blog post about the game, Quantic warned players that things can get ugly if they’re not careful how they play: “Every decision you make can have a dramatic impact on your journey. The way of life in the Outer Rim is under threat and you must choose your path.”
Star Wars Eclipse Trailer
The reveal trailer mixes a bit of the familiar alongside more than a few new and unique pieces.
From Master Yoda standing pensively in a Jedi temple to strange aliens performing some sort of ritual, the game has a lot to offer both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
There’s also a strong sense of conflict between the Trade Federation – the shipping conglomerate responsible for the Naboo blockade in The Phantom Menace – and a mysterious organization that appears to be marching with an army of its own.
It’s not clear how this fight will play out, but it appears to be central to the larger narrative and players’ own journey.
Is there a release date for Star Wars Eclipse yet?
Star Wars Eclipse was only just announced, so there’s no definitive release date yet. The official website lists the game as “in early development” so it will likely be a while before we have a solid window.

On December 27, 2021, PlayStation Lifestyle reported that Star Wars Eclipse developers Quantum Dream were “struggling” with the development of the game, which could push the release date even further.
According to the report, reasons for these problems are lack of staff and problems with the game engine currently used. Apparently the engine is not able to support the number of NPCs and players, which means that at the time of the report the game is 18 months in development and has no playable version.
These potential problems appear to have been confirmed by renowned industry insider Tom Henderson, who has claimed the development is struggling more than first thought.
In an exclusive piece for xfireHenderson said, “Sources close to Quantic Dream have told me that while the trailer was extremely well received by the wider gaming community — and certainly looks stunning — the trailer didn’t have the desired effect of attracting developer talent to the studio.”
He continued, “As a result, Star Wars Eclipse will likely release between 2027 and 2028.” That’s a huge time window, so we shouldn’t expect any clunky information on Star Was Eclipse for a while.
That’s all for Star Wars Eclipse for now!
