Stormzy on vacation with Adele: “It changed my life”

Stormzy has recalled a “lovely” trip to Jamaica where he holidayed with close friend Adele.

The rapper who just released his third studio album That’s what I meanHe has opened up about his friendship with the British singer.

“Adele, I love her very much. And we always had great conversations,” Stormzy told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.

“And that’s a real friend of mine, that’s not like a music lover,” he said. “So whenever we would go off, we’d have really nice and deep conversations.”

The 29-year-old recalled a time when they were both stuck in the “rat race” of life and “not enjoying the fruits of life [their] Work.”

“I think she just reminded me that it’s important to have time to yourself and to have a space of peace and quiet to hear yourself think,” he recalled.

That conversation prompted a flight to Jamaica, Stormzy said.

“We went to Jamaica. There were five of us. It was me, Adele, Cleo Sol, Inflo and April,” he said.

“It changed my life. It was the most beautiful thing… I can’t even explain it, it was really, really beautiful and really healing and really peaceful,” he said.

“God was on that journey. God was with us,” he continued.

Stormzy was in Las Vegas for the opening night of Adele’s residency and took to social media to post his praise for the show.

During the interview with Lowe, Stormzy also discussed the lyrics to his track “Please,” which respond to the media’s treatment of Meghan Markle.

He discussed how his words can often be taken out of context by others, using the lyrics as an example.

“The Meghan lyric, that’s the most authentic, just leave her alone. It’s not political, it’s not rooted in it. It’s just a real leave her alone. Just leave her alone,” he said.

“When you’re at a bar or at a party and you see someone and it’s like you leave them alone.”

Lowe then suggested this might be something that might resonate with the rapper himself now that he’s finding massive success.

“It’s intense. It’s super intense. And that’s where… that’s what I wanted to say,” he agreed.

“And there were a few moments in my life, in my actual reality, where I had to be like, ‘yo, leave him alone’ or ‘leave her alone.’ And that was one of those moments, just on wax.”
