Stevie Nicks’ angry words to a lover earned Tom Petty a massive hit

Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty collaborated on songs in the 1980s. One of Petty’s popular songs was inspired by Nicks, but it actually had nothing to do with the songwriting process. Instead, the refrain came from words she said to musician Dave Stewart after a night together. Stewart wrote the song “Don’t Come Around Here No More” with the intention of giving it to Nicks. Instead, it became a hit with Petty.
