Steam Deck Release Date Revealed

Valve has officially announced the release date of the Steam Deck, which is the upcoming handheld PC platform made by Portal and Half-Life developers. Valve previously confirmed that the Steam Deck is on track to begin shipping to customers who placed their pre-orders in late February, avoiding any unforeseen delays. Luckily, this launch window is now confirmed, with Valve now providing an exact date for when the units will release.

In a new blog posted to Steam, Valve today confirmed that the Steam Deck will officially go live on Friday, February 25th. While it’s often argued that this is the date when units can reach customers, Valve has instead made it clear that this is the date that those who have closed their pre-orders will need to complete their purchase. their. “On February 25, we will be sending the first batch of order emails to those who pre-order. Customers will have 3 days (72 hours) from receiving the order email to make their purchase, before when their reservation is passed on to the next person in the queue,” Valve said of the process. “The first units will arrive to customers starting the 28th, and we plan to release new batches of order emails on a weekly basis.”

With this purchase process in place, the Steam Deck likely won’t officially start showing up on customers’ doorsteps until the first week of March at the earliest. And when it comes to people who may have pre-ordered Steam Deck long after orders first started, it’s still unknown when they might start shipping. Fortunately, Valve has created a tool on its website to help provide clarification on when certain orders may begin shipping. Be sure to visit that page if you want to check the status yourself.
