And after praising his former teammate’s performance after the game, Evra then take the opportunity to address Carragher’s comments directly.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video, he said: “Some players like Jamie Carragher, I think he had 775 games and Cristiano today scored 801 goals and that kind of person talks about Cristiano.

“I think everyone has to stay in their lane. Some people just woke up and wanted to talk about Cristiano.”

Carragher earlier this week insisted Ronaldo could become a big deal at Old Trafford.

Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher said: “How does a club the size of Manchester United Still relying on a guy who’s almost 37?

“He’s unbelievable, his scoring record is unbelievable, but if he doesn’t score, he’s a passenger in the game. You have to accept it, it’s true. .

“But he scores almost every game so you can accept that at the moment.

“If Cristiano Ronaldo has gone four or five games without scoring, that’s a big problem for Manchester United.”

Ronaldo has scored 12 goals in 16 games since returning to his second club at United.

Meanwhile, Evra also had a say over Emile Smith Rowe’s bizarre opening goal on Thursday night.

It was one of the weirdest incidents you can see when United midfielder Fred accidentally stepped on the foot of his goalkeeper David De Gea when a corner was taken.

De Gea headed the net and soon after, the ball went into the net as Emile Smith Rowe caught a volley for the Gunners in front.

And because referee Martin Atkinson did not have time to blow the whistle before the goal was scored, VAR decided to allow this match to stand.

“It was a strange goal but it was a valid goal,” Evra said, analyzing the strange moment.

Asked if he would let United score the equalizer as Arsenal captain, he added: “If I were Arsenal captain – no.

“If they want to play fair, they will, but if I’m an Arsenal player it’s not because it’s his own player, Fred is crushing David De Gea.”
