Starlink satellite internet service solves connectivity problems for residents of Golden Gate Estates

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. – Elizabeth Diaz struggled to get steady internet for four years in Golden Gate Estates.
Internet and cell service are a problem for thousands of residents in the area.
She paid $100 per month for internet service with CenturyLink. Diaz had to pay double to make sure there was enough internet in the house.
“It’s not very reliable. I had a lot of problems with it. Diaz said.
Her children had a hard time working at school and she had to work from home.
Diaz now has Starlink which she says is a game changer. She waited all year for this service.
Starlink is Elon Musk’s latest satellite internet service project. Starlink Satellite’s goal is to bring internet to people all over the world, especially in rural and remote areas.
“I have no problem. We had a cloudy day,” she said. “It was a little rainy. We have no problem. “
Starlink costs her $99 per month and she pays $500 for the device. But Diaz said the price paid was worth it.
Her upload speed is 258 Mbps while your typical upload speed is 10 Mbps.
“It’s quick. Very reliable. Children can access online. We don’t have any problems,” she said.
Starlink says on its website it launched 49 satellites into low earth orbit on January 6.
According to SpaceX, Musk’s company, they had 500,000 pre-order registrations for Starlink 8 months ago.
