St. John’s Rick Pitino visits Nick Timberlake, Chris Ledlum

Rick Pitino’s first full week as St John’s manager got off to a busy start.

The Hall of Famer had house calls Monday in the Boston area with two of the top transfers available, Towson wing Nick Timberlake and Harvard forward Chris Ledlum, as the Johnnies continue to work to reshape their roster.

Pitino was joined on the visits by assistant coach Steve Masiello.

The 6-foot-6 Ledlum, a Brooklyn native, averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Crimson last season.

Iowa and Indiana visited him over the weekend.

“He would be a home run [for St. John’s]’ said an Ivy League coach on condition of anonymity. “He’s the best physical specimen in the Ivy League. He’s too big and strong to pull a little guy, too fast to pull a big guy. He’s rebounding, he’s aggressive, he’s tough. … He finished second in the Ivy League in points and rebounds, and every team’s game plan was to stop Chris Ledlum.

The manager believes Ledlum and Joel Soriano, the returning St. John center standout, would be “great together”.

Multiple sources said coming home is something Ledlum appeals to.

He has a close-knit family that travels to Harvard for most of his games.

The 6-foot-4 Timberlake is one of the top shooters in the country, hitting on 41.6% of his 3-point attempts and averaging 17.9 points for Towson.

He recently had a home visit in North Carolina and has arranged an official visit to the ACC school.

Timberlake also met with Indiana last weekend.

Another top target, Iona University guardian and MAAC Player of the Year Walter Clayton Jr. paid an official visit to Florida over the weekend and plans to visit St. John’s this week.

Those are the only two schools the Lake Wales, Fla. native is currently considering, he recently told The Post.

Two St John’s players, Rafael Pinzon and sophomore O’Mar Stanley, entered the transfer portal last week and more are expected to follow.

Pitino and his staff will coach returning players from Tuesday.

Pitino has said he plans to add six to eight new players but the composition of the squad remains fluid.
