Red light, green light was apparently a piece of cake.
Believe it or not, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is working on something far sinister for his next project. The South Korean fear expert is working on a film with the working title Killing Old People Club or KO Club, based on a novel by Umberto Eco. by variety.
And if you thought it was horrific to watch people get shot by a giant animatronic puppet in his hugely popular Netflix series, just wait.
“It’s going to be more violent than ‘Squid Game,'” Dong-hyuk explained during a recent MIPTV event at the international television market in France. He has already reportedly developed a 25-page treatment for the film, which he expects will be “another controversial film.”
The word “controversial” cannot even begin to be described last year the crazy “Squid Game”, what followed cashless characters Compete in a brutal – and for most deadly – series of games to win much-needed cash. The show was No. 1 on the streamer in dozens of countries, and fans of the drama dubbed it “so f – – ked up” and explained that it was full of “excessive violence”.
But of course, who could resist?
“I covered my eyes during one of the first scenes because it was so cruel, but then I couldn’t look away,” a Brooklyn native told The Post last year. The series supposedly even spawned a real version back in korea.
“There was so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. I almost have the feeling that you leave us no choice!” he told the Associated Press last fall.
“But I will say that there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m just planning,” he says said in an interview. He added that season one’s determined lead character Seong Gi-hun – played by Golden Globe nominee Lee Jung-jae – will return to the show.
“I promise to you. . . Gi-hun will come back and do something for the world,” said the filmmaker.
