Squid Game star Oh Yeong-su charged with sexual misconduct

Squid Game Actor Oh Yeong-su has been charged with alleged sexual misconduct.
The 78-year-old actor was charged on Thursday (November 24) in Suwon, near Seoul, South Korea.
Prosecutors announced on Friday (November 25) that the actor had been released without arrest.
It is alleged that he inappropriately touched a woman’s body in 2017. The unnamed woman reportedly filed a complaint against the actor in December 2021, but the case was dropped by authorities in April this year.
According to a report by Yonhap News Agency, the matter was resumed at the victim’s request.
Oh has denied the claim.
In a statement shared with the Korean broadcaster JTBCThe actor said: “I just held her hand to show the way around the lake.
“I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but that doesn’t mean I admit the allegations.”

The actor played Il-nam in the acclaimed series. As the oldest entrant in the dystopian contest, Il-nam was often referred to as “the old man” by other characters.
Oh won a Golden Globe for his performance at the 2022 ceremony in January. His co-stars were quick to congratulate him on his win; Lee Jung-jae, who plays the main character Seong Gi‑Hun, wrote, “Mr. Il-nam, congratulations. Every scene with my teacher was an honor.”
Meanwhile, Kim Joo-ryeong, who played Han Mi-neyo, added, “Congratulations, sir. Stay healthy away.”
Oh was also nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor, but lost to Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Tom successor.
before Squid Game, Oh had mostly acted in theater productions. In 2013, he claimed to have appeared in more than 200 stage productions, including Korean adaptations of End station longing and Goethe’s fist.
