(Reuters) – Fans in the UK will need to show proof of having had a double vaccination against COVID-19 or testing negative to attend top sports after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson imposed restrictions COVID-19 containment tougher in the country on Wednesday.
The UK government has made the NHS COVID Pass mandatory for any event with more than 10,000 participants in an attempt to slow the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
The rules have been announced as part of “plan B” COVID measures in the UK and they will come into force from 15 December.
Britain’s Health Security Agency said on Wednesday that Britain had reported 131 new cases of the Omicron variant, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 568.
