Does John Wick die in John Wick: Chapter 4? HITC investigates John Wick 4 spoilers.

Action cinema has its fair share of legendary heroes, whether your favorite is John McClane or Snake Plissken. However, when it comes to more modern examples of the very best characters in the genre, there’s no escaping it: John Wick is the man.

It’s hard to imagine playing anyone other than Keanu Reeves in the now iconic role, which he began taking on in the original film in 2014.

Since then, we’ve seen the gun-fu and mind-blowing combat sequences rise to incredible levels, with John Wick: Chapter 4 upping the ante yet again. Alongside an appearance from the late, great Lance Reddick, fans also welcome Bill Skarsgård to the franchise and say hello again to Laurence Fishburne, among others.

You’re sure to have a lot of fun, but considering we’re having four films, it’s understandable that viewers are particularly concerned about Mr. Wick this time around. So let’s get something straight… Does John Wick die in John Wick: Chapter 4?

Does John Wick die in John Wick: Chapter 4?

Yes, John Wick dies in the final act of John Wick: Chapter 4 and it’s the franchise’s most surprising and unexpected moment yet.

In the end, John and Caine (played by Donnie Yen) go head-to-head in a pistol duel. John is shot three times in different parts of his body, but his reluctance to fire the last shot results in him being freed from under the staff table.

Unfortunately, his bravery comes at the ultimate sacrifice and he dies of his wounds.

The film ends with Winston and the Bowery King at his grave and they granted his wish and made sure his gravestone had “Loving Father” written on it. He previously told the couple that this is how he wants to be remembered.

“He’s almost a complete psychopath”

Although John will live to see another day in the final moments of the fourth film, Ian McShane (who plays Winston) and Lance (Charon) recently spoke to ScreenRant about how Bill’s villain, the Marquis Vincent de Gramont, poses such a huge threat.

“He’s 1.80 meters tall, has terrible suits, is Swedish and speaks nineteen languages,” said Ian. “And he is a Skarsgård and he has 1000 brothers. No, I love Bill. I think Bill is great at it [movie]crazy as a loon.”

Lance added, “But he’s also almost a complete psychopath and it feels like he has more carte blanche to do as he pleases off the high table than any other villain.”

John Wick’s last rodeo?

Director Chad Stahelski has told The Hollywood Reporter that there are no concrete plans for a fifth part.

He acknowledged that after the Japanese press tour – likely in September – he and Keanu will be asking each other what they think they should do next.

“We’re going to have some 20-year-old whiskeys and write some ideas on napkins,” he clarified. “If these ideas hold up, maybe we’ll make a movie.”

John Wick: Chapter 4 is in theaters now.
