Soul singer PP Arnold claims Ike Turner raped her in new memoir Soul Survivor

Soul singer PP Arnold has claimed she was once raped by Ike Turner.
The 1960s soul singer claimed in her forthcoming memoir: soul survivors.
Arnold appeared as Ikette with the Ike & Tina revue, consisting of Ike and Tina Turner, who were then husband and wife but later divorced in 1978.
In a recent interview with the telegraph, In the promotion for her new book, Arnold, now 75, discussed her allegations against the late Turner, who died in 2007 at the age of 76.

Arnold told the outlet Turner trapped and raped her in a room in the mid-1960s. After the alleged sexual assault, Arnold struggled with her anger at him.
“What can I say? It was awful. I despised Ike on that level, but I didn’t know how to express myself,” Arnold said.
“I was told that Tina wanted to get rid of me because Ike was after me,” she added. “If I ran to Tina or called my parents, that would have meant I would have done it [had] return home.”

The Independent reached out to Tina Turner’s rep for comment.
According to Arnold, returning home would have meant returning to her husband’s violence. She went on to tell the outlet that she and her husband David were forced to get married after an attempt at a clothes hanger abortion failed.
At the age of 15 Arnold gave birth to their son Kevin and at the age of 17 they gave birth to their daughter Debbie.
The “First Cut is the Deepest” singer’s memoir also details her relationship with Jimi Hendrix, her journey into the music industry, her marriage to Jim Morris and the tragic death of their daughter, who died in a car accident when she was 13.
Despite the devastation Arnold laid bare in her all-encompassing memoir, she instills an air of optimism.
“Well, I could use one. What matters is where I am right now,” she said. “How can I use all these years of experience and just do something really great?”
