Sooners Smack Alcorn State 72-48 for 10th win

Oklahoma ended the 2021 portion of their schedule as the host for Alcorn State, who entered the 1-10 contest.

Oklahoma got off to a slow start, especially from early on, but Umjoa Gibson changed that towards the end of the first half. He drills a triple then immediately steals a stop pass and jumps onto one where he sinks. Gibson had a 17-point high game. He started the game one out of five from three but finished five out of nine.

Elijah Harkless defended all night. That translates to his offense. He scored an impressive mess and fouled before half-time. Harkless finished with eight points, but did a little bit of everything for the Sooners as he added five goals and four assists.

Gibson added a double three times before half-time to give the Sooners a 34-15 lead at halftime.

In the second half, it’s more of the same. Gibson hits a runner, Harkless hits a runner then Jordan Goldwire joins the action. He pulled out a trey, part of his 11-point campaign.

With OU in control, the Sooners had an extra ton of minutes to take 6 to 11. Bijan Cortes hit a three and hit a tough game with an added foul as he scored six points in the match.

The Sooners played well enough to walk on Jake Moser for a few minutes and let loose in an easy match.

Oklahoma took the big 72-48 win over the Braves. The Sooners completed the main part of their no-conference option with a score of 10-2. The Sooners face Auburn at the end of the season in the 12/SEC Grand Challenge for one more tilt to the non-conference side. In the meantime, the Sooners take a break before opening the Big 12 against Kansas State on New Year’s Day.
