Son of ‘cult mom’ Lori Vallow speaks out after siblings’ deaths

Doomsday mother Lori Vallow’s surviving son said he couldn’t get a straight answer out of her when he asked her where his younger siblings were.

Ms Vallow, 48, is facing murder charges alongside her husband Chad Daybell, 52, after the deaths of Tyree Ryan, 17, and Joshua Vallow, 7.

“I asked her 100 times, ‘What’s going on?'” said 26-year-old Colby RyanThe sun.

“And the only answer I ever got was, ‘All will be revealed soon,'” he added.

Court documents say prosecutors will seek the death penalty if Ms Vallow and Mr Daybell are convicted of first-degree murder.

When the children disappeared in 2019, they were not reported missing by the couple, police said. They also did not help the investigators who worked to find the children.

They fled to Idaho and then moved on to Hawaii, where they were arrested. The children’s cremated bodies were discovered months after their disappearance near Mr Daybell’s home in a makeshift cemetery.

Ms Vallow has pleaded not guilty and her lawyers have argued that she is mentally unfit to stand trial, but after spending 11 months in a psychiatric hospital they were believed to understand the charges against her could.

When the kids disappeared, the couple were reportedly part of a doomsday prepper group called Preparing a People, which they joined in 2018.

A friend of Ms Vallow said she thought her children were possessed by evil spirits and could be turned into zombies.

“Very early [after the disappearances] I reached out to my mum and she cut everyone off, including me,” Mr Ryan saidThe sun.

“And then obviously you’re going to start asking, ‘Is everyone alive? Are you all right? What if the worst has happened?’ But you shouldn’t think like that,” he said.

“There was a lot of back and forth and a lot of fear,” he added. “But I also had to believe that nothing might have happened because I couldn’t imagine anything happening, especially with my mum.”
