Son arrested for murder of father in Fayetteville, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — Brandon Patrick Sessoms was arrested Thursday and charged with Monday’s murder of his father, Fayetteville Police Department said.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “domestic disturbance” at the 700 block of Manley Street and found an unresponsive adult man and a younger man suffering from self-inflicted injuries.

The elderly man, identified as 56-year-old Jason Brian Albury, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Meanwhile, Sessoms had to be transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for immediate surgery on his injuries. An initial release said he would be charged with second-degree murder upon his release.

Three days later, Sessoms was arrested at 11:44 am and made his first court appearance. He is currently being held without attachment at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

The full details of this case are still under investigation.
