KATIE Price has revealed one wish she has for her disabled son Harvey’s future – that he can fill his own shopping cart.
The star, 43, opened up about her 19-year-old boy – who has complex health and behavioral conditions – in a new BBC documentary
Katie said she wishes Harvey could live a simple but independent life, with him being able to carry out daily tasks.
She said: “You get parents saying, ‘I wish my kid would become a lawyer, or a doctor.”
“With Harvey, if he could just walk around the store and fill a cart, or learn how to properly fold towels in the bathroom after a shower, or make the bed…”
“I know how difficult it is for him, so for me it’s a big thing.”
Harvey – whose father is former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke – was born with autism, visual dysplasia that causes near blindness, learning disabilities and complex behavioral needs, and has to drink 25 pill every day to control his condition.
Next Monday, a new documentary will air on BBC1 called Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next.
On the show, Katie revealed she struggled to cope when her son moved into a boarding school three hours’ drive from their Sussex home last August.
She said: “I got used to 19 years of having him around me, living, breathing, smelling, noise – everything. Then he just left.
“How do I fill that void? I’m used to having to shoulder so many responsibilities.”
The documentary shows an emotional Katie saying goodbye to Harvey and urging staff to call her on FaceTime if he takes action.
Harvey’s condition causes him to frequently erupt in violence when he’s feeling anxious – and Katie worries that she’s the only one who can help calm him down.
But no matter how difficult the transition, she knows it’s the right thing to do – for Harvey and for herself.
Katie, who recently revealed she wants more children with her current boyfriend Carl Woods, explained: “He’s starting a new life, and I’m starting a new one.”
Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next airs Monday, March 7, at 9pm on BBC1
