Snow in the mountains continues Sunday, strong winds will affect southern Colorado

DENVER (KDVR) – Temperatures will hit the mid-50s in Denver today, accompanied by strong winds and high fire risk.
High wind warnings have been issued for areas south and east of Metro Denver through 8 p.m. Sunday. Wind gusts will range from 45 to 60 mph.
Along with the wind, a Fire Weather Warning is in place over the southeastern plains. Fire risk will be high throughout Sunday.
The mountains have Avalanche Warnings, Winter Weather Alerts and Winter Storm Warnings in place. An additional 1 to 5 inches of build-up in the mountains is expected Sunday night.

Temperatures will continue to cool through midweek with temperatures in the 30s on Wednesday. There is a 10% chance for isolated sleet on Tuesday morning and another chance for New Year’s Eve snowfall on New Year’s Day.
