‘Smash it’: Postecoglou says two Tottenham players took their chances under him

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has praised Spurs duo Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven.

Ange Postecoglou told it Football.London that 20-year-old left-back Destiny Udogie and 22-year-old central defender Micky van de Ven took their chances for Tottenham Hotspur.

Udogie has made four Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season.

The Italian U21 national team left-back has provided two assists in these games.

Van de Ven has made four appearances in the Premier League so far this season and played once in the Carabao Cup for Spurs.

Postecoglou said: “He was great. We started the season with Destiny playing their first Premier League game.

“Micky van de Ven had completed two training sessions, he played his first Premier League game and Vicario played his first Premier League game. Everyone starts in a back four or five, but in that context you give the boys the platform, the chance and hopefully the belief that we will support them and you get those results, but it’s still a challenge to achieve that .”

The Tottenham boss added: “We talked about it as a coaching staff that it would have been easier for the first team selection to be safer. “Absolutely, but we had to change and challenge things.

“Guys like Destiny and Micky and those players who didn’t just go in there and get a foothold, they went in there and tried to smash it. This is what I want.””

Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven are potential stars for Tottenham Hotspur

The way Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven are currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur is extremely promising.

It is clear that the two young players have great potential.

Of course, it’s still early days, but the signs are very encouraging indeed.

We believe Tottenham fans should be optimistic and confident that Udogie and Van de Ven will deliver consistently good performances for the club in the coming years.

Tottenham are aiming for a place in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
