Sky man claims ‘sharp’ player sought by Newcastle has ‘come to life’ after transfer to rivals.

Lee Hendrie has claimed that Newcastle United’s summer transfer target James Maddison has “come to life” at Tottenham Hotspur.

After Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship, it was clear that James Maddison would be signed by a Premier League team.

Newcastle United’s name was mentioned, Ayoze Perez even claimed that a transfer to St James’ Park was “likely”, but instead he secured a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

So far it has proven to be a brilliant move for the England international as Hendrie feels Maddison is looking “strong” under Ange Postecoglou, as he said Sky sports news (9/9/23 at 2:15 p.m.).

In his four Premier League games, the 26-year-old has scored two goals and provided the same number of assists, including helping a much-changed Spurs side score five goals against Burnley in their last game.

Still, after a summer of speculation, Hendrie has said this about Maddison’s move to London.

“I was a bit skeptical about Maddison, I’m not going to lie,” Hendrie said. “I think he is a fantastic talent. I really do.

“I think he stopped. Maybe he got a little too comfortable in Leicester. I feel like he had to make that move.

“I think this season he seems to be at a point where I think the penny has dropped. He looked at the Grealish and Fodens of the world. And the attacking skill of this English team.

“Suddenly he is back in life. He enjoys his football. When you enjoy football, things like this happen (goal against Bournemouth). They become detached. It just seems to happen naturally. He looks fit. Sharp.”

Maddison is already a fan favorite at Tottenham

The goal-scoring midfielder has only been wearing the Spurs colors for a few months and is already a fan favorite among Tottenham fans.

There’s no reason why things wouldn’t be different if Maddison had moved to Newcastle instead, because they wouldn’t.

When Maddison sings he has an aura about his game and the ability to enthrall the team and audience. And the Spurs are now benefiting from all of this.
