Sixth person to rent home in Idaho where 4 students were killed

Idaho authorities announced Thursday that a sixth person was listed on the lease of the home where four University of Idaho students were brutally killed last month.

It was believed that the person was not at home at the time of the stabbing.

The latest update comes as authorities have found no suspects or suspects in the tragic murders of Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle, who were in a relationship, and Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, who were raised as best friends, early in the morning of 13/21.

The sixth person was not identified by the Moscow police.

The house has two bedrooms on each of the three floors.

Kernodle, Mogen and Goncalves were all roommates in the King Road house while Chapin stayed the night.

The murdered college students were on the second and third floors the night of the killings, two other surviving roommates, Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen, were also at home on the first floor and slept through the attack, police said.

“Detectives are aware of a sixth person listed on the residence’s lease, but do not believe that person was present during the incident,” Moscow police said.

The house was the center of the police investigation into the murders.

The local police department also clarified Thursday that investigators believe the attack was targeted, after confusingly saying the day before detectives were unsure if the home or any occupants were targeted.

“We remain convinced that the attack was targeted, but investigators have not concluded whether the target was the apartment or the residents,” Moscow police said in their latest update.

The conflicting statements came after Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said in an interview Tuesday the home was targeted then said early Wednesday One of the victims was targeted, which police refuted.

The Idaho State Police forensic team has been handling the case for weeks, Moscow police said Thursday, and has provided investigators with “testing and analysis results.”

“As they complete additional testing, those results will also be provided,” Moscow police said. “To protect the integrity of the investigation, specific results will not be published.”
