iPhone trick to copy and paste

If you’ve ever copied and pasted one iPhoneknow that sometimes it can be frustrating.

But there is a gesture that makes it very easy.

It works with pinch and finger spread gestures.

First select some text that you want to copy.

Then pinch three fingers together on the display.

This will copy the text.

Then perform the opposite gesture (spreading the thread fingers outward) to paste what you copied.

iPhone camera zoom

Zooming is generally done by pinching or spreading your fingers.

However, this can sometimes be tricky when recording on an iPhone.

And it can often result in shaky zoom that doesn’t look good in the final footage.

There is a better way.

First open your camera app.

Press and hold the shutter button to start recording video.

Then simply drag your finger up or down on the screen to zoom in or out.

You can do this from the Photo or Video mode in the Camera app.

Move multiple iPhone apps at once

If you’ve ever moved an iPhone app, you know it can be a hassle.

First, press and hold an app until it shakes.

This is the signal from Apple that an app is ready to use.

This will add the second app to the stack so you can move them together.

You can still add apps to the stack as long as you keep your original finger pressed on the screen.

Then you can just put all the apps in the location (or folder) you want them in.

Translate foreign language characters with iPhone

Your iPhone can instantly translate any foreign language character.

First open your iPhone camera and take a picture of a foreign language sign.

Then navigate to the image in your Photos app.

Now hold your finger and drag your finger across the text.

Use this to Highlight the text just like in a document.

Now tap Translate in the pop-up menu that appears above the text.

The text will be automatically translated into English (or another language of your choice).

You can copy the translation or change the language from the settings.

And you can even make the iPhone speak the English translation out loud.

Get rain alerts for iPhone

The iPhone has a hidden setting that gives you Weather alerts based on your location.

If rain, hail or snow starts to fall near you, you will be warned.

This gives you time to duck for cover, turn around on your walk, or put out the umbrella.

It’s associated with the major overhaul of the new iPhone weather app that rolled along iOS 15 in September.

First, make sure you’re updated to iOS 15 – go to Settings > General > Software update.

Then give the weather app your location information or it won’t work.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Weather and select Always.

You’ll get even better notifications if you allow access to precise location.

Next, make sure the weather app can send notifications.

Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Weather > Allow Notifications, then select the type of notification you want.

Finally, you then need to turn on weather alerts.

Go into the Weather app and select the list icon at the bottom right.

At the top you will see an option called Stay Dry.

If you don’t see that, tap the three dots in the top right, then go to Notifications.

Tap Turn on notifications, then turn on the My location switch.

Then tap Done in the top right and it should work.

Now you will get an alert just before it starts raining at your location.
