MANCHESTER UNITED legend Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated an epic victory on Merseyside as his horse won at Aintree.
The former Red Devils boss, 80, celebrated after his horse Clan Des Obeaux claimed victory at the Betway Bowl.
He said: “We couldn’t believe the price!
“It’s a fantastic achievement, well done.
“The King George… the bottom was too heavy, very slow. “He’s always been a good horse.
“Were delighted. It’s always good to win on Merseyside!”
fergiewho enjoyed many victories at both Liverpool and Everton during his time at Old Trafford, and his co-owners Ged Mason and PK Barber won a £140,000 prize after Harry Cobden led Clan Des Obeaux to victory.
Remarkably, it comes just a year later the Scot enjoyed another full opening day of the festival.
He celebrated his best treble since 1999 after scoring a massive £169,000 payday at the Grand National Festival.
Ferguson co-owned the first THREE winners at Aintree in 2021.
Fergie – who said the winners gave him his “best day in racing” – won with Protectorate in the first, Monmiral in the second and Clan Des Obeaux in the third.
All in all, it resulted in a payday of just under £169,000 for the ex-Trafford boss, who toasted to another win at Liverpool.
