Singing group that started at Towson University releases first EP of holiday songs – CBS Baltimore

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) – A group of friends and students at Towson University who wanted to make music together has now released its first EP of Christmas songs, gaining millions of TikTok followers and being featured on Kelly’s talk show. Clarkson.
Originally called the Towson Trills, a capella singing group took the campus by storm, winning talent shows and even competing in the International Championship of Collegiate A Capella.

Some think the group will disband when some of the founding members graduate in 2019. While no longer a student organization, they have become a family.
So they changed their name to The Trills and became a professional group.
Trills has four Towson alumni: Aaron Bayne, vocal percussionist; Leroy Hyson, bass; Will Damanka Jr., tenor; Kathryn Marie, soprano; and two current students: Missy Melkonian, alto; and Nick Zuelsdorf, baritone.

This holiday season, they released “Like it Christmas,” an EP featuring some of their favorite Christmas songs. It can be found on Spotify, Music on YouTube and Apple Music.
Of them TikTok now boasts more than 3.6 million followers and goes viral after recommending their sea shanties movies.
The Trills started covering Clarkson tunes, hoping she would notice. But the Grammy-nominated singer does more than that — she interviewed them for her talk show that aired Monday.
