SINEAD O’Connor paid tribute to her “beautiful angel” son Shane at his Hindu funeral, which he “should have loved”.
Shane O’Connor17, was found dead after disappearing from Tallaght Hospital in Dublin on Thursday.
He was laid to rest today after a ceremony with 50 mourners at Newlands Cross Cemetery and Crematorium in West Dublin.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer shared her grief wearing a pink tracksuit that matched her son’s wishes.
She wrote on Twitter: “We just said goodbye to our beautiful angel, Shaney.
“The Hindu ceremony is lovely. Shane will love it. He always chants “Om. Shanti”.
“I put a couple of packages of fakes in the coffin for him in case it wasn’t in heaven.
“He will love that too. Braised. Shanti.
Cruel Sinead earlier this week confirmed the teenager was dead and described him as “the light of my life”.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer previously spoke of her grief after his body was identified, saying: “I have now officially identified the remains of my son, Shane.
“I will take some time in private now to grieve for my son.”
She also has threaten the hospital with a lawsuit after Shane went missing two days before his death.
The singer has stated that the hospital has “disclaimed any responsibility” for Shane’s disappearance.
She also said: “May God forgive the State of Ireland as I never will.”
In a statement, the hospital said: “HSE is unable to comment on individual cases where doing so may disclose information regarding identifiable individuals, in violation of its ethical requirements. for us to comply with our confidentiality obligations.”
Mother-of-four Sinead confirmed Shane’s tragic passing, expressing her gratitude for him on social media.
She wrote: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the light of my life, decided to put an end to his mortal struggle today and is now doing it. stay with God.
“May he rest in peace and no one will follow his example. My dear child. I love you very much. Please rest in peace:”
She later tweeted a Bob Marley song she dedicated to Shane: “This is a song for my Shane. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. .
“You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundaries can separate us.”
Police had previously issued an appeal for the missing teenager, along with the photo.
He is seen in CCTV images wearing dark jeans, a black hoodie with a colorful logo on the front, a dark red top and white shoes.
But a Gardai spokesman confirmed the search had “closed down” after a body was discovered.
A spokesman said: “After a body was recovered in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, January 7, 2022, the Missing Person Appeal involved 17-year-old Shane O’Connor, was cancelled.”
A spokesman for Sinead O’Connor said: “Unfortunately, we can confirm the passing of Shane O’Connor.
“We politely ask for respect and appreciation for Sinead, Shane’s father, and Shane’s family at this most difficult time.”
