Santiago Meza Lopez – aka El Pozolero or The Stewmaker – confessed to helping the Sinaloa Cartel dissolve countless corpses in acid to make them disappear.

Stewmaker was first arrested in 2009 and sentenced to a decade in prison in 2012.

But he will be debuting this year.

Hundreds of people go missing each year because of drug-related violence in Mexico.

It is thought that Lopez used the vat of acid to dissolve thousands of people because Sinaloa Competition Agreement.

He is known to have worked at at least 10 locations in Tijuana, Mexicomost notably the Chicken Coop farm near the US border.

The gang boss spent years dissecting bodies, and at one point even built a drainage system so he could dispose of the waste.

Thousands of bone fragments – believed to be leftovers from The Stewmaker – were discovered by police.

Since 2012, at least 16,500 liters of organic sludge and up to 200kg of waste have been recovered from the Chicken Coop.

Experts estimate there may be the remains of 650 people in mass graves around the area.

Fernando Ocegueda Flores, founder of the Baja California Association for the Unification of Missing Persons, told Borderland Beat: “This is very sad news for the many families who are angry about what he has done.

“But it’s the law and the law has to be followed. So even if we don’t like it, he’ll be released, he’ll be able to move around freely in society again.

“Let’s hope that while he is in captivity, he returns to the good path.”

Court documents reveal Lopez was selected for the job while working on a farm in 1996.

Senior members of the cartel asked him to perform an “experiment” with water and acid in a barrel.

They dropped part of the leg meat into the solution and left it for two hours to let it dissolve.

Lopez claims he was forced to work for competition agreement.

The families of the suspected victims have urged authorities to identify those remaining at the scene.
