SIMON Cowell’s brother believes his decision to turn his head to marry Lauren Silverman was due to a “life-changing” bicycle accident.
The music mogul, 62 years old, broke his back in 2020 and Tony says it was the ‘catalyst’ for the proposal – but admits that Simon’s life “completely changed” when he became the father of son Eric.
In a Best magazine column, he explained: “Lauren told me Simon proposed to her on Christmas Eve in Barbados; and she said, ‘I’m so happy.’
“Honestly, I’m not surprised by the news. Since having his son, Eric, with Lauren, Simon has completely changed his life and for the first time, he seems happy and content. .
“I believe that accident was the catalyst for Simon. He started thinking about his future and with whom he shared it. I love Lauren very much; she is both a caring mother and a friend. faithful companion of Simon.
“She was in constant contact with all of our family; and was incredibly supportive of all of us following the death of our mother in 2015.”
He added that their late mother Julie would be “overjoyed” about his engagement.
Simon fell and broke his back after trying out a powerful new e-bike – and accidentally pulled a wheel.
He accidentally injured his spinal cord by an inch.
The Sun revealed that Simon brought up the question during the couple’s recent vacation in Barbados.
