Carroll wrote of one night Poitier burst into her hotel room and accused her of seeing another man even though he was married. He was angry that she moved on with someone else and wanted her all for himself.

Carroll then charged Glusman with domestic assault, and the marriage ended after only four months. She later married DeLeon, editor of Jet magazine, two years after their separation, but the marriage ended with DeLeon’s death in a car accident in 1977.
