Sherwood viewers hail thought-provoking series finale as “TV at its best”

Sherwood Viewers have praised the show’s series finale, branding it “the best thing on television in a long time.”

James Graham’s true crime drama, which began earlier this month, was inspired by two murders that took place in Nottinghamshire in 2004.

When the show wrapped Tuesday night (June 28) and Scott’s (Adam Hugill) reason for killing Gary (Alun Armstrong) was revealed, viewers were quick to embrace the “great” drama.

“Brilliantly written by James Graham,” wrote one viewer. “Great cast. Sublime spectacle with some special extras. To be thought-provoking. Television at its finest. Simply stunning, simply gorgeous. Bow down to everyone involved and take care of those BAFTAs.”

“Waking up and still thinking about #Sherwood – what a show. If you haven’t seen it, check it out on @BBCiPlayer,” one tweet said.

Many viewers were quick to point out the powerful resonance of the finale.

“I beg of you all just watch the last episode… Miners Strikes After Effects very real, very horrific… It’s happening now… Divide and conquer…” one tweet read.

“‘Blame each other instead of blaming them.’ God #Sherwood was one powerful moment after another… applause,” commented another viewer.

“‘They didn’t care about us then, they don’t care about what is now,’ truer words were never spoken,” added one commenter.
